ART PROJECT REQUEST

By Beth, September 30, 2009 3:45 pm

Dear Women,

I am in my fourth year at Whitecliffe college of Arts and Design. My practice this semester has been exploring female sexuality, including, but not limited to, genital pride/celebration of variety. For my end of degree show i want to have a series of photographs depicting women posing with a plaster cast of their vulva (holding it in their hand). the cast and/or the photograph will then be displayed. I really want to show women with pride in their body, and i think the images could be very beautiful. please if you are interested call me on 027 4193960 email me at beth.macgibbon@gmail.com or reply to this thread! time is against me for this (final show late november), so if you are keen please don’t hesitate to contact me.

FYI: the cast can be done by the model in private in a short amount of time

THANKS HEAPS!

Amazing lecture by Bruce Lipton

By Beth, August 27, 2009 8:19 pm

I was privileged to attend a lecture today by Bruce Lipton, a cell biologist, changing the way people think about genetics and how thought changes human biology. The lecture was hosted by my college Whitecliffe and I thank them for giving me this opportunity. I am in no way able to articulate the information as he did, but if you have never heard of him before you can visit his website at www.brucelipton.com and see him discuss the general ideas on youtube here (part one of two. you can find the second part yourself I’m sure). I mentioned to him at the end of the lecture that I have read writings by Eckhart Tolle, and asked if this was similar thought. As i suspected, he confirmed it is the same idea, different vocabulary and way of explaining it. This reminded me about the limitations of language if one cannot look beyond words to the underlying concept, something Tolle discusses in The Power of Now. Lipton has several books on the subject of his lecture as well.

Tuesday exhibition train

Went to several exhibition openings tonight with my uni friends. First we hit Newcall gallery to support our tutor Christina Read. Her show The Psychologist’s Bookshelf was a reasonably large body of work. Quite quirky and lots to look at. I particularly enjoyed the work Anxiety Ball, a large wall piece using felt. The work was reminiscent of a Tracy Emin appliqué quilt. You can read the provided text here. Congratulations Christina, it is alway great to see teachers succeeding in their own practices. We then travelled down to New Market, to the Seed gallery. Stunning show. A solo exhibition by Stafford Allpress featuring charming miniature works (See his work on the Seed gallery site here). They were also serving Crawford Farms wine, one of my favourites! Last stop was Jensen gallery, showing new works by abstract painter Leigh Martin. Large and sumptuous, is a good description, although there were smaller pieces. All were intensely coloured, with shiny decadent surfaces. Completely edible. Click here for an example of older work. Back home for tea and Outrageous Fortune yeah!

One more – amazing skills Rach

A bit about my blog

By Beth, August 22, 2009 5:37 pm

Welcome everyone to my new blogsite. I’m Beth, a fourth year art student at Whitecliffe College. I have started this blog as a profile tool to introduce myself to the world as a real life artist! I look forward to becoming connected to people interested in the same ideas as me, introducing others to new things and also learning new things from others. That’s what it’s all about. My posts will be a mix of inspirations, news, my projects and opinions.

My own website!
